Tonya Liverman's Steps to a Cure Pledge Page

You are invited to participate with me in a marathon without ever leaving the comfort of your own home. On April 28, 2001 I will be walking in the Country Music Marathon in Nashville, Tennessee along with the other members of the society’s Team in Training from Hampton Roads.

Each team member is walking on behalf of the society and a leukemia patient from Virginia Beach. I am walking for Connor. Connor was diagnosed in March of 2000 with AML. Connor underwent cord blood transplant surgery at Duke University Medical Center and is doing well. Connor is six years old and enjoys playing with his three siblings. He enjoys many sporting activities including T-ball, soccer, skiing and swimming. He also enjoys horses, animals of all types and his favorite color is yellow.

We are given these partners to remind us, fellow marathoners and onlookers that while we are struggling to get through the training and the 26.2 miles someone out there is fighting a much greater struggle with cancer. Along with the commitment of training and completing the 26.2 miles my team members and I have also committed to a goal of raising at least $2,600 each to donate to the society to continue the research that must eventually be successful. This disease has affected every one in such a way, whether it is directly or indirectly through a family member, friend, a neighbor or a coworker that we all must have an investment in finding a cure.

I am asking for your support to sponsor me in the endeavor to run the 26.2 miles and raise the money to reach our goal. To donate just click on DONATE to print the donation form and checks should be made payable to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Please remember that any and all contributions are 100% tax deductible and greatly appreciated.

On race day in April, I will be wearing the name of my patient partner, Connor. I would also be honored to wear the name(s) of anyone in your life that has inspired you through his or her battles with cancer or any other catastrophic illness. Please include their name in your response envelope and I will be sure that they cross the finish line with me in Nashville, Tennessee.

Thank you very much for your support and generosity. Each step that we take together will bring us closer to a cure.

Sincerely,

Tonya
